The Laboratory for Molecular Imaging and Photonics in the Department of Chemistry at KU Leuven (Belgium) is looking for a motivated PhD candidate. The position can be filled immediately. The candidate will work on the characterization of monolayer-protected gold clusters (MPCs) with atomic precision using nonlinear optical (NLO) spectroscopy, such as Hyper-Rayleigh Scattering, Second-Harmonic Generation and Multiphoton Absorption. The project will address fundamental aspects of the NLO properties of MPCs, building on prior work of our group (e.g. Nanoscale 2016, 8, 12123 - 12127). This includes a strong synthetic component. The position is funded for four years and the candidate should have a Masters degree in Chemistry and be fluent in English (knowledge of the Dutch language is advantageous but not required).
